Role of Indonesia Battery Material in Lithium-Ion Batteries

Sustainable and responsible mining practices are becoming increasingly important to ensure long-term viability and international market acceptance.

Regionally, Sulawesi and Maluku islands are key production hubs for nickel and cobalt, supported by downstream refining facilities in Java and other industrial zones.

Overall, Indonesia’s battery material industry is strategically important for the global EV and energy storage sectors, combining abundant natural resources, government support, and growing international investment to position the country as a leading supplier of critical battery materials.
